What is agency-managed funding?
Agency-managed funding is support delivered through the NDIA, where funds are paid directly to registered providers via the myplace portal rather than held by the participant.
Agency-managed funding is a support option under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIA) where the agency holds your funds and pays registered providers directly. Instead of managing your budget yourself, you authorise the NDIA to coordinate payments through the myplace portal for services and supports included in your plan.
This arrangement works on a claim or invoice basis. When a registered provider delivers support, they submit their claim to the NDIA through myplace. The agency processes and pays the invoice directly, and the funds are deducted from your plan allocation. You receive statements showing what has been paid and for what.
The key requirement is that providers must be registered with the NDIA to deliver agency-managed supports. This registration ensures providers meet scheme compliance and quality standards. If you use unregistered providers, those costs typically cannot be covered under agency-managed funding arrangements.
Agency-managed funding suits people who prefer the NDIA to handle payment administration, or who need support to coordinate multiple providers. It differs from plan management, where a plan manager holds your funds and pays providers on your instruction, or self-management, where you hold funds directly. Understanding which funding arrangement works for you depends on your circumstances and how involved you want to be in managing payments and provider relationships.
